What is the ATWD?

The Australian Teacher Workforce Data (ATWD) Strategy unites and connects Initial Teacher Education data and teacher workforce data from around Australia. It will provide nationally consistent data on subjects like how many teachers we have, how many graduates get jobs, the types of contracts teachers are employed under, teacher career paths and experiences, and how many teachers are entering and leaving the profession.

Why is it important?

Teachers are the number one in-school influence on student outcomes. By understanding the challenges and opportunities faced by Australian teachers we can better support the profession and improve student outcomes. The ATWD will provide robust data to help tell this story.

How your privacy is protected

At all stages of data collation, processing, storage and reporting for the ATWD, the privacy of individuals is protected. Only de-identified data is included in the ATWD.

ATWD Teacher Survey

Understanding our teachers' careers and work experiences will be an important part of the ATWD. To provide greater insight, teachers will be invited to voluntarily participate in an annual ATWD Teacher Survey.
