What is a skills assessment?

A skills assessment determines suitability for an occupation for skilled migration purposes. AITSL is the skills assessing authority for school teacher occupations for Australia’s skilled migration program.

Occupations are listed on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) and the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL).

What do I need to do?

Follow these steps to receive your skills assessment. For more information download the relevant Application Guide and Form.

  • Step: Get ready

  • Step: Complete your application guide and form

    • Complete all parts of your application guide and form.
    • Collect copies of your supporting documents.
  • Step: Submit your application guide and form

    • Ensure you have signed your application guide and form.
    • Send your application guide and form and all your supporting documents to ‘AITSL Assessment for Migration’. Mailing details are provided in your application guide and form.
  • Step: Receive your assessment

    • AITSL will update you via email as your assessment progresses.
    • AITSL aims to complete your assessment within 10 weeks
    • Your assessment outcome will be issued via Australia Post registered mail or international mail. 
  • Step: After your assessment
