The teacher has applied an understanding of Science content knowledge relating to the production and sensing of sound, and Science pedagogical understanding by developing engaging activities with multiple modes of delivery using a co-constructivist approach. The activities include purposeful questioning for inductive scientific inquiry, science-specific demonstrations and active hands-on exploration of materials, digital animations and explicit and interactive teaching. Skills in the literacies of Science are developed through visual, text and gestural communication. Scientific concepts and skills are connected to students’ prior experiences and observations.
The class is a Foundation Year / Year 1 composite class, of 27 students. Of these, ten are Year 1 students.
