A teacher works with other year 3 and 4 teachers in her school to design and implement explicit mathematical learning experiences for students.  Collaboratively, they select and use content and resources for numeracy lessons suited to the strengths and needs of individual students from diverse backgrounds. She understands the importance of 'visual' and experiential learning for students with language backgrounds other than English.
St Albans East Primary School caters for a culturally diverse student population of approximately 365 students. It is located in the western suburbs of Melbourne. The school has three teachers participating in the Department of Education Primary Mathematics Specialist program. These teachers support other teachers to provide effective teaching strategies that promote the learning of mathematics.
