Phase 1: Initial Stakeholder Consultations

AITSL conducted targeted consultation and research in 2018 into the unique challenges early childhood, casual/relief teachers, and teachers in rural and remote regions face in undertaking professional learning.

More than 1800 responses were recorded.

Many of the issues raised reinforced previous Australian and international research. This reflected an opportunity for current practices to be profiled and scaled up throughout the Australian professional learning landscape, demonstrating the need for more discussions.

Phase 2: The HQPL National Dialogue

AITSL held a National Dialogue on High Quality Professional Learning with Education Services Australia on 14 November 2018. It was attended by approximately 100 participants, including: teachers and school leaders, system and sector representatives, teacher regulatory authorities, and professional associations.

The National Dialogue served as a platform to co-create potential national solutions to the challenges facing the three cohorts.
