“Put your hand up to lead” – Iris Nastasi

Iris Nastasi is the principal of Clancy Catholic College, a secondary school in western Sydney, NSW.

In this video Iris shares thoughts on:

  • making a difference for young people
  • shaping a vision together
  • developing confidence as a leader
  • the role of a strong leadership team, and
  • taking opportunities and learning to lead.

Iris came from Ireland on a working holiday and took up her first teaching position here. She was amazed by the workload of teaching but experienced a real sense of achievement by making a difference to the lives of young people. After four years as an Assistant Principal, Iris was encouraged to apply for a Principal position. Despite feeling that she may need more time and experience, Iris was offered the job.
