Resource information

AERO has developed these practice guides in partnership with MultiLit and the Institute of Special Educators to help teachers refine or refresh their understanding and practice of supporting students with diverse needs.

The page lists a collection of 7 practice guides to help teachers refine or refresh their understanding and practice of supporting students with diverse needs.

The practice guides are:

  1. Planning
  2. Collaborating with support networks
  3. Communication needs
  4. Emotional regulation
  5. Physical needs
  6. Sensory differences
  7. Social interactions

Ensuring all students can engage in learning in safe, supportive and well-managed learning environments is vital – and the support teachers provide in ensuring this is crucial. Students may require varying supports depending on their strengths and needs, including reasonable adjustments to the learning environment, teaching or curriculum.

The advice in these guides is designed to complement – not replace – existing school and system policies, procedures and guidance.

The resources in this collection include practice guides on planning, collaborating with support networks, communication needs, emotional regulation, physical needs, sensory differences and social interactions.

Resources are available for primary, secondary and senior secondary school settings.
