A comprehensive literature review provided a wide research base to inform the development of the Middle Leader Standards. It gathered information from academic papers and international and national practice.
The purpose of this document was to conduct a thorough review of national and international literature relating to middle leadership.
To ensure a thorough review of relevant literature, this systematic search began with peer-reviewed articles and then broadened to include relevant grey literature, such as professional standards, professional development programs, position descriptions and policy documents from government bodies and institutions.
This document was developed with the assistance of the Queensland Department of Education.
