About the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
The Teacher Standards describe the elements of high quality, effective teaching in 21st century schools.
Seven standards outline what teachers should know and be able to do, providing a nationally consistent description of the role of the teaching professional.
Designed by teachers for teachers, the Teacher Standards are a public statement of teacher quality. Within each standard, focus areas provide further detail of required skills, knowledge and practice. These are separated into 4 professional career stages: Graduate, Proficient, Highly Accomplished and Lead.
