This course is designed to help educators in the senior secondary years of schooling understand their legal obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005 (the Standards).
These obligations focus on providing fair access to education for students with disability.
Activities address the 5 standards:
- enrolment
- participation
- curriculum development, accreditation and delivery
- student support services, and
- harassment and victimisation.
The course is divided into 2 parts. A certificate of completion is awarded for each one.
- Part 1 contains core content, essential to understanding the Standards (1.5 hours).
- Part 2 explores how the Standards apply across different aspects of a student's educational experience (3 hours).
