This online, self-paced module – developed in collaboration with Microsoft – aims to increase teacher readiness when using GenAI.

It is designed for Australian F-12 teachers who want to build their own digital literacy around GenAI and equip them to develop their students' digital literacy capabilities.

You will start building your AI Educators' Toolkit — a collection of essential skills and strategies for using artificial intelligence (AI) effectively in education — with an introduction to AI. Next, you will explore practical applications of GenAI to support and enhance teaching and learning, and learn how AI can assist with administrative tasks, streamline lesson and curriculum planning, as well as personalise student learning.

As you progress through the module, you will 'unlock' key tools to navigate the challenges educators may face when integrating GenAI into teaching. You’ll learn how to implement AI in ways that enhance learning experiences while safeguarding student privacy. By developing your digital literacy, you’ll gain the skills to evaluate AI tools, make informed decisions about their integration, and apply strategies to get the best outputs from GenAI tools.

The module typically takes around 90 minutes to complete. You can work through sections at your own pace and come back anytime and pick up where you left off to complete the module.

How to access the module

The module is available on the Digital Technologies Hub. The Digital Technologies Hub has been developed by Education Services Australia for the Australian Government Department of Education.  It is free to access the module.
