AITSL hosts ongoing consultative groups as one way for us to get practical insight and guidance from experienced experts. Initiatives we discuss in these forums are often taken to the Education Ministers Meeting for national consideration.

School Leadership and Teaching Expert Standing Committee (SLTESC) includes current classroom teachers, school leaders, teaching and school leadership professional associations, and systems and sectors.

Teacher Education Expert Standing Committee (TEESC) includes experts in initial teacher education from universities and state and territory teacher regulatory bodies.

Professional Growth Network (PGN) includes nominated representatives from government, Catholic and Independent sectors in every state and territory. Members contribute to discussions and share practice, providing advice on excellence in teaching and school leadership to inform the development of initiatives, policies and resources for AITSL and other members.

Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) Advisory Group includes HALTs from each state/territory currently offering teacher certification. The HALT Advisory Group comprises nationally certified teachers from across Australia who provide strategic advice on how to strengthen and sustain national teacher certification. Members provide strategic advice to strengthen and sustain national teacher certification, contributing insights that help AITSL leverage HALT expertise, shape the national HALT Network, and inform policies and initiatives that recognise and support expert teachers.

Advisory Group for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Education includes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education experts from across Australia. Members provide strategic advice on the development of initiatives, policies, and resources that support the teaching profession to enable all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to achieve their full learning potential and are supported to embrace their culture and identity.

Professional Associations Forum (PAF) is a representative body, providing advice on AITSL’s policies, resources and initiatives relating to school leadership, quality teaching, workforce issues and professional learning.

National Professional Learning Network (NPLN) is a representative body from each state and territory leadership institute, collaborating to share practice, research and initiatives on leadership preparation and development, professional learning and program evaluation.
