Welcome to a new term.
Term 3 has arrived (already?!). We know this part of the year can feel full-on – maintaining momentum, building on learning and maybe a few too many tabs open in your brain. That’s exactly why we’re making space for something simple but powerful this term: connection.
At its heart, teaching is a profoundly human endeavour. Strategies and evidence shape our practice – but it’s the authentic connections we build with children and young people, with families, and with each other that transform lives. It’s in these everyday interactions that the real magic of teaching happens.
We've updated our Thrive in 2025: Connect page with a fresh collection of practical, purposeful resources to help. Whether you’re looking to reflect, lead, plan or just click on something that makes your day 5% easier – it’s all there, ready when you are.
As Term 3 gets underway, we’re also getting ready to celebrate Early Learning Matters Week and Australian Primary Principals Day – 2 great moments to recognise the teachers and leaders who lay strong foundations and lead our school communities. You'll find resources in this issue to support early childhood educators and school leaders in their important work.
As we continue our work to support the profession, we're also listening. Next month, the Australian Teacher Workforce Survey opens again. This is more than a survey – it’s a powerful opportunity to bring the voice of the profession to the heart of education policy and decision-making.
The results of the survey are made available to education Ministers and heads of systems and sectors, to better understand the barriers and opportunities for teachers and school leaders, and provide insights into next steps to support the profession to thrive. The data is only as meaningful as the voices that inform it, so make sure yours is heard by getting involved!
Here’s to a term that feels more connected, more supported – and a little less like you’re carrying it all alone. Because great teaching doesn’t happen in isolation, it happens in the incredible community we call the teaching profession.
Warm regards,

Tim Bullard, Chief Executive Officer, AITSL
