The teacher has developed a unit on Antarctica for her year 7 Geography students. In this lesson the teacher encourages students to develop an understanding of and empathy for the conditions in which people in Antarctica live and why there is a human presence in this area by creating a social media profile.
Students have been learning about the various occupations of people who live in Antarctica and are beginning to develop an understanding of the wide range of occupations.  This lesson is at the start of the unit of work.
