Formative assessment in the classroom

Our most viewed Illustration of Practice is aimed at Proficient teachers. In the video, a teaching team demonstrates how they use formative assessment with students in the classroom to make adjustments and respond to student learning and understanding.

Teacher Standards

Just like last year, our top webpage was about the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. The page proves more popular than our homepage! AITSL publishes evidence summaries called Spotlights: designed to give you the real facts on topics important to education professionals. Our top Spotlight this year was released a few months ago, and looks at the rapid rise in online enrolments for initial teacher education (ITE) courses in Australia from 2007 to 2016.

Hattie Chat

Readers flocked to our Twitter feed on 25 October 2018, where we hosted a live Twitter chat with AITSL’s chair, Laureate Professor John Hattie. He answered your questions on everything education (and explained the reason he doesn’t use Twitter!).
