Professor Geoff Masters is Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). ACER is an independent, non-profit organisation which creates and promotes research-based knowledge, products and services that can be used to improve learning across the life span. Prof Masters has a PhD in educational measurement from the University of Chicago and has published widely in the fields of educational assessment and research. Read more

He has wide ranging interests in the field of education and particularly focuses on issues of school improvement and the quality and equity of Australian schooling. Professor Masters has served on a range of bodies, including terms as President of the Australian College of Educators and founding President of the Asia-Pacific Educational Research Association. He is a member of the Business Council of Australia’s Education, Skills and Innovation Taskforce, the Australian National Commission for UNESCO and the national board of Life Education Australia. In addition he sits on a variety of advisory boards, including the Advisory Board for the Science of Learning Research Centre.
