How do I apply for an assessment?

Step 1

The following information will assist applicants to understand the Department of Immigration and Citizenship's requirements for General Skilled Migration.

Read AITSL's Assessment  for Migration Application Guide for information on completing your application form. The guide includes:

  • assessment criteria
  • an explanation of each section of the assessment application form
  • assessment information such as fees, process, document requirements and processing time.

Step 2

Once you have read the information in Step 1 complete your Assessment for Migration Application Form.  When preparing your application please make certain your application is lodged well before you require an assessment outcome as AITSL does not provide a fast-track assessment service.

Step 3

Once your application is received and payment has been processed, AITSL will send you a notification email with your reference number within 5-10 working days.  Use this reference number in all future correspondence with AITSL.

Assessments are usually completed within 8 weeks from the date of initial notification, providing all supporting documents are submitted with your application.  Please allow extra time for delivery of your outcome which will be posted. 

We ask all applicants and migration agents to limit inquiries about progress of assessments, as this takes time away from completing assessments.
