The development of the Standard builds on, and adds value to, existing standards and frameworks developed by education jurisdictions and professional bodies.
An expert steering group was established to provide advice and support on the development and promotion of the Standard. The group included expert representatives from state and territory government employers, the catholic and independent sectors, national professional association and education boards, leadership institutes and Commonwealth and national school leadership experts.
The group worked in collaboration with respected UK expert Professor Dame Patricia "Pat" Collarbone to develop the Standard.
