Finalists in the 2011 Australian Awards for Outstanding Teaching and School Leadership
At the inaugural awards ceremony in Melbourne on 13 October 2011, thirty-nine state and territory finalists and five national winners were recognised for their expert knowledge, exemplary skills and unwavering commitment to meet the needs of young Australians.
The prestigious national event was attended by the Hon Peter Garrett AM MP, Minister for School Education, Early Childhood and Youth and attended by State and Territory Education Ministers.

In 2011 the Australian Government Minister's category recognises excellence in teaching or school leadership within Indigenous education contexts and reflects the national commitment to ongoing innovation and improvement in this area of high priority.
Winners of each category received a professional learning sabbatical working with recognised national and international education experts and practitioners. Winners will share their learning experience with their school community and their profession on completion.
