Jan Owen is a highly regarded social entrepreneur, innovator and child and youth advocate. She is the CEO of the Foundation for Young Australians (FYA), a for-purpose organisation committed to creating generational transformation by improving the learning outcomes and life opportunities of young Australians. Prior to this, she founded the CREATE Foundation, the national consumer body for children and young people in out of home care. Jan was named The Australian Financial Review & Westpac Group inaugural 'Woman of Influence 2012' and in 2014 received the degree of Doctor of Letters (honoris causa) from the University of Sydney in recognition of her significant contribution to young people and policy in Australia. She is the only non US citizen to receive a fellowship for leadership and innovation to the Peter Drucker Foundation (USA) and has been awarded membership of the Order of Australia for services to children and young people. Jan is the author of Every Childhood Lasts a Lifetime (1996) and The Future Chasers (2014).
