Dr Kerry Kavanagh is Director, Workforce Development, for the South Australian Department of Education and Children’s Services, where she is responsible for implementing and monitoring the department’s workforce development framework and leading South Australia’s reforms on teacher and leadership quality. Dr Kavanagh’s extensive experience in education includes work as a classroom teacher and 12 years as a school principal. She has worked as a field officer, program and policy officer, and has written books and guides as a curriculum writer. She counts an Australian Research Scholarship among the grants and scholarships she has received and has represented the department in international forums. A member of the South Australian Teachers’ Appeal Board, she was elected to the South Australian Primary Principals Executive in 2008/2009. She was awarded her PhD in 2004.
