Research project: Writing it Right

Career Stage: Highly Accomplished

This action research project was completed through the teacher’s Master of Education as she recognised a need to develop strategies to address the types of errors students make within their writing. Current theory and research underpinned this research, and subsequent conclusions made within the report, were utilised to inform and develop recommendations for future teaching and learning at her school.

The teacher has 10 years teaching experience as well as qualifications that include a Graduate Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and a Masters of Education. She works part time at a primary school supporting year 1 and 2 students and teachers in her role as an English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) teacher. This includes coaching teachers in the area of EAL/D, small group work within the classroom and targeted small group withdrawal lessons. She presents professional learning in her area of specialism and is the unit convener for an undergraduate subject.
