We wish everybody visiting the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) website a welcoming and rewarding experience. AITSL is committed to providing this experience to everybody operating commonly used Internet browsers, operating systems and hardware.
What are we doing?
To help us make the AITSL website a positive place, we've been using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, which have been endorsed by the Australian Government. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and user friendly for everyone. The guidelines have three levels of accessibility (A, AA and AAA). We’ve chosen Level AA as the target for the AITSL website.
We also employ the Digital Service Standard when planning all of our technological projects.
How are we doing?
We've worked hard on the AITSL website and believe we have nearly achieved our goal of Level AA accessibility. Although we monitor the website regularly to achieve AA compliance, we have a number of documents that cannot be provided in HTML format and instead use the Portable Document Format (PDF) format. We aim to reduce our dependency on PDF files and we encourage our audience to contact us if alternative document types are required.
