Teaching Teachers for the Future

The Teaching Teachers for the Future (TTF) project is one of four initiatives funded by the Australian Government through the Information and Communication Technology Innovation Fund (ICTIF) that will help teachers and school leaders to better utilise ICT in the classroom.

A component of the Digital Education Revolution, the TTF project specifically targets systematic change in the Information and Communication Technology in Education (ICTE) proficiency of graduate teachers across Australia by building the ICTE capacity of teacher educators. The project will create a support network across the 39 Australian higher education institutions that provide teacher education, with a framework to assist pre-service teachers to map their proficiency against the Graduate career stage of the National Professional Standards for Teachers, and will develop rich professional resources to encourage effective integration of ICT in the classroom.

Project partners are the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC), Education Services Australia (ESA), the Australian Council of Deans of Education (ACDE), the Australian Council for Computers in Education (ACCE) and the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL).

AITSL, in collaboration with ACCE, are developing and trialling ICT specific statements and annotated illustrations of practice for the Graduate career stage of the National Professional Standards for Teachers. These resources will enable pre-service teachers to map their proficiency against the Standards and will support the development of teacher education courses in the use of ICT. They will be made available through the Teacher Standards website upon completion of the project in 2012.
